A look back at our Eshopista discussion platform

On Thursday, October 11, the new format of the Eshopista discussion platform took place at the Art & Event Gallery Černá labuť in Prague. The organizers from the company Acomware took into account the feedback of the participants, and the business stories were replaced by a debate with experts on the issues of logistics, shipping and customer experience.

The new format consisted of two parts. The expert block began with a comparison of data on carriers in the Czech Republic, which was presented by Zboží.cz manager Milan Šmíd. According to the results, for example, the point of sale is the third most used filter on Zboží.cz. According to the prediction, he expects mobile phones to be the most demanded product category at the turn of December and January. Subsequently, Karel Lyčka, commercial director of Zásilkovna, spoke about the changes in market conditions during Christmas. He emphasized that the last three months of the year will fundamentally affect the field of marketing, technology, logistics and personnel.

The program of the first part was completed by a panel discussion moderated by Simona Kijonková, owner of Zásilkovna. The panelists included Libor Hudeček from the ZOOT company, Milan Polák from the Different.cz e-shop, Jan Jelínek from the Alensa company, Karel Lyčka from the Zásilkovna distribution network and Juraj Čadecký from the Factcool company. Participants discussed foreign expansion, own transport, returns and preparations for Christmas.

The second part of the program in the form of the Inspirational Block started again with research. Martin Šauer from the Balíkobot company analyzed carriers for 5.5 million shipments. He stated, for example, that while Česká pošta holds the majority share in the domestic market with 30 %, the foreign share of carriers is controlled by Zásilkovna with 35% representation.

Tomáš Čupr from Rohlík.cz, Martin Kasa from Pilulka.cz, Juraj Čadecký from Factcool and Michal Menšík from Dodo also spoke in this block. The first trio of speakers defended the position of their own transport solution. According to Juraj Čadecký, with this decision, Factcool gets up to a third of the price that it would otherwise have to invest in an external carrier. Martin Kasa and Tomáš Čupr also emphasized that with this step they have full control over the customer experience. Michal Menšík, on the other hand, countered by claiming that with a larger volume of goods, own transport represents an excessive burden on the company, which is especially complicated by seasonal fluctuations.
